- This is what rain teaches us
This is what rain teaches us
The little lesson I observed being drenched in water which made me rethink about life...

The day is 28th June.
Evening 5:52 pm,
I see the rays of sun disappearing slowly,
Eventually giving way to the darkness by the looming clouds.
I'm preparing for the boxing session,
With a little sense of worry in my mind.
As I take my bike to the training location,
I was a little skeptical of doing that today.
I thought of not taking the risk,
Because my raincoat was lying in the store room,
Un-located
So, Rickshaw it is!
Whilst as I prepared myself to train hard today,
A gentle sprinkle of rain began to fall.
As the clock struck 6:45,
I grabbed my umbrella and hurriedly crossed the street,
Hoping to find a ride,
But just as I settled into the rickshaw,
The rain came pouring heavily,
Almost as if God was patiently waiting for me to step outside.

As the rain grew heavier,
The visibility decreased,
And I watched in amazement,
As the rainwater managed to find its way,
Inside the rickshaw,
Despite the protective covers on both sides.
The vehicle started to move in the opposite direction,
Due to the force of the wind.
I could hardly see 100 metres ahead,
As the showers went so wild.
The rain weng so heavy that,
Even the bright car headlights,
Couldn't shine through the objects in front of them.
No signs of stopping,
I held myself tight,
Whilst the vehichle kept dangling left-right,
Due to the unstoppable wind force.
But somehow,
I managed to get to the training ground.
Completely soaked in the water,
The dri-fit Tshirt isn't DRI anymore.
The sweatpants leaving a sense of cold,
Whenever I sat down as the water seeped inside.
(just don't ask me where!)
But merely after sitting down,
I went in a deep state of thinking-
We humans tend to associate rains with:-
Gloomy weather,
Traffic jams and the
Hassle of carrying umbrellas everywhere.
We curse the rain when,
It disrupts our outdoor plans.
& I could see why is that so.
Imagine this:
You're cozied up indoors,
Safe and dry under a sturdy roof,
As the rain falls outside.
The rhythmic patter of raindrops,
Create a soothing symphony,
And you find yourself drawn to its tranquil melody.
In this moment,
You can't help but appreciate,
The beauty of the rain and the sense of peace it brings.
However, let's switch gears.
Imagine now that you're riding a bike,

Through the bustling streets or walking down the crowded sidewalk,
Minding your own business,
When suddenly the heavens open up.
Rain pours down, catching you off-guard,
Drenching your clothes and turning your hair into a sodden mess.
It's in moments like these that,
The rain becomes less enchanting and more of an inconvenience.
I immediately thought about how,
A farmer's life depends on phenomenas like these:
Imagine the farmers,

With hands calloused,
From years of toiling the land.
Every morning,
Waking up with a sense of anticipation, glancing at the sky,
Searching for any signs of rain clouds on the horizon.
His family's well-being depends on the timely arrival of rain.
Without it,
Their crops would wither,
And the entire year's hard work would be in vain.
But what did I observe here?
As human beings,
We often exhibit contrasting behaviors and reactions,
Much like our relationship with rain.
When we have the luxury of shelter and preparedness,
We appreciate the rain's calming qualities.
But when caught unprepared,
When the rain disrupts our plans or inconveniences us, our emotions shift.
We may grumble,
Curse the weather,
And desperately seek cover or the closest umbrella vendor.
It's as if our carefully constructed sense of control is washed away,
And we find ourselves at the mercy of the elements.
This contrast in behavior reflects the complexity of human nature.

It reveals our vulnerability and reminds us,
Of our interconnectedness with the natural world,
Whether we like it or not.
In a way,
It depicts our response to unexpected events in life.
We appreciate the pleasant moments when,
We are in a shelter of comfort.
The well-prepared situations,
And the comfort they bring.
But when life throws us a curveball,
Catching us off-guard,
We may resist, complain,
And long for the safety of our roofs.
Yet, within these contrasting reactions,
Lies an opportunity for growth and reflection.
It teaches us adaptability and resilience,
Reminding us to find beauty,
Even in the unexpected.
To embrace the discomfort,
And to learn from the situations that challenge us.
