Urban life sucks

Why does the shine within city streets is considered as a facade

As I write this,

Sitting beneath a tree, winds blowing across my face and scattering my hairs,

While a soft ray of sunlight falling on my face, getting in the Vitamin D.

As the soft piano music soothes my soul, my mind came up with something old and different.

Having the laptop in my laps, I'm unable to concentrate on the work now..

As I'm constantly thinking, why I used to hate this place

The place where I'm currently living

After my exams got over,

I took a day's rest and headed towards my mother's native place.

Initially I used to hate this locality,

Pulling my eyebrows down & teeth exposed, whenever she talked about her home.

But as I'm sitting here in peace, I realised one fact,

That I hated this place for years, for a simple-yet-dumb reason,

“Not having enough facilities”

This a micro village, in the north-western part of Maharashtra.

People here are still stuck to the slum mentality, as they find comfort in such conditions.

Having

  • No electricity most hours of the day

  • A water tank, miles away from the house

  • 0 modern day appliances

  • No washroom

Things like these acted as a put off when I visited here in my initial days.

But maturing came up with thoughts like,

A place, where there is limited access to almost everything,

People still survive, and live happily.

This made me question my existence in the urban life.

As that made me think,

“Veenit, what do you think.. which is the best life?”

I converted this idea into tweet about 3 days ago

Surprisingly, this tweet blew up and to a more shocking suprise,

Most people prioritised peace over chaos.

I mean it's evident that people out here seek calmness,

But majority people didn't have a problem with that peace coming in with a rural lifestyle

Comments like these,

Made me rephrase my thoughts about the pre-judgements I made about this place.

There's a calming life buried beneath the urban glamour.

People think it's essential to have everything they ought to see,

Just for the social validation ( mostly the only cause )

The lesson I learnt today is,

“Don't think that living in the cityscape will make you superior in any terms”

Real happiness lies where you can actually

  • Cut out the noise of the traffic

  • Sleep, inhaling fresh air

  • Discover your own self, without much disturbance

I'm grateful for having such realisation and you should too.

Next time, whenever you visit your native place, or an area with less attraction..

Don't just pre-judge the vibe and disappoint yourself,

Look around, observe the difference between where you are and where you live.

It will make you rewire your socially washed mind.

That's it for today folks, signing off for now

Good Day,

V.
